Spray Tanning Regulations

The following are Food and Drug Administration Sunless Regulations:

• Sunless tanning ingredients are considered as cosmetics. 
• Spray solution should not be inhaled

State Spray Tanning Regulations

The following states have some form of Spray Tanning Regulations.  If your state is not on the list they currently have no regulations for this service.

New Jersey:

• Bans spray tanning under age 14 - Section 3.8

Ohio:

• Spray tanning businesses must register and obtain a Tanning Facility Permit
  https://cos.ohio.gov/FORMS-APPLICATIONS/BUSINESS-LICENSES-PERMITS
• Post a warning sign. 

• Provide customers with eye, lip and nasal protection.

• Wear approved "dust" mask when applying by hand spray.

• Reporting / registration of all mobile spray locations.

Oregon:

• No longer requires airbrush tanning technicians be certified in esthetics.
