Congratulations; you are starting on a path that has lots of challenges; but is chosen by many people because it can be both personally and financially rewarding. Here is a summary of a good process to follow:
Upfront Planning and Preparation:
- Research the market for your business idea.
- Develop your business objectives and write a business plan; including a marketing plan with brand / trade name.
- Organize funding your business.
Form Your Business Legally:
- Decide on a business structure, legal location and name.
- Register the business and obtain any permits / licenses needed.
- Get tax IDs needed.
Organize Your Business Operationally:
- Get a bank account and Merchant (credit card) Services.
- Find and prepare a location, as needed.
- Setup Appointment System / Business Management Software.
- Setup Income and expense record keeping processes.
- Setup customer record keeping.
Market Your Business:
- Setup online presence including social media and website.
- Develop business card and vehicle signage.
- Prepare Email, SMS Texts, and snail-mail Post Card processes.
- Establish a community presence.
